Viet Nam is the worlds leading producer of natural rubber as well as become the world’s leading exporter of natural rubber latex. It has rubber plantation area accounted for 910,500 ha in 2012. More than 80% of the latex produced is for export. China is the largest market and it annually consumes more than 40% of the latex exported from Vietnam. In Vietnam, regions with the largest rubber plantation area include the Southeast which accounts for 46.5% of the total rubber plantation area, followed by the Central Highlands (27.7%). Gia Lai has become the main location for rubber plantation with total area accounting for 12% of the total rubber plantation area of the country.
